Firing-Up an Arena of Fans with Fighting Superheroes

For Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment’s Injustice 2 launch at the GameStop Managers Conference, VIVA created the strategy, event design, content, scripts, and production for a first-of-its-kind eSports matchup in Las Vegas. This fighting-based sequel was a follow-up to Injustice: Gods Among Us, based on the DC Universe. 

For Injustice 2, the best way to experience the action is to play it. To create a monumental launch experience that drove guests to the hands-on demo experience in the Expo, VIVA designed an epic stadium matchup between top gamers, hosted by a celebrity emcee and game creators. 

Our team wanted to enhance audience participation and mimic the exhilaration experienced during gameplay, so each guest was outfitted with a wearable light bracelet that tracked the color costume of the leader of each match. As the red team or blue team moved ahead in the competition, guest bracelets illuminated the entire arena with that color, creating huge waves of cheering and rabid fandom as the match moved between leading fights with split second turnovers. 

VIVA also wanted to extend this experience to other gaming properties. For other Warner Bros. launches in the stadium, such as Batman VR, VIVA used the same bracelets to track the music, filling the venue with energy that stretched from the screens into the house. This created an immersive, responsive, and interactive experience that wowed the seasoned GameStop manager audience.
